A CT short sale with our own little Dime Savings Bank
Posted by Minna Reid on Thursday, December 8th, 2011 at 9:21am.It's not every day I get to escape the big boys of banking - Bank of America, Wells Fargo, GMAC, etc - and have the pleasure of dealing with our own little local Connecticut banks.
Dime Savings Bank proved to be an absolute delight to work with. I have my suspicions that this was actually one of their first short sales, since they didn't appear to really have a set process in place and actually seemed to value my expertise in the matter. There is no short sale department and my main contact was the head of collections - Matt. I even met Matt at the property as he wanted to get a real feel for the condition of the property so he could take his observations back to the committee personally. Matt was a dream to work with and for the first time, I watched a bank actually put some real common sense thought and effort into getting an accurate valuation of the property and negotiating mutually beneficial terms of short sale approval until a satisfactory compromise for all parties was reached.
Approval took just under a month and the sale closed just a few weeks later. There were no form letters, no ridiculous wait times and no over-abundance of red tape. Just good old fashioned common sense.
Dime Savings Bank by far takes the cake for most pleasant short sale I have ever experienced. Now there is a bank that knows what they are doing. I only wish they had a closer branch so I could start an account.
