How to find the real estate agent that will charge the lowest commission

Real estate commission rates are negotiable. Yes, you can find some discrepancies in what certain Realtors will charge over others. You can find real estate agents that may even give you significant discounts. These agents include:

Inexperienced real estate agents - Brand new agents need to learn and may very well give you a discounted rate in exchange for getting some experience under their belt. This may cost you during valuation and contract negotiations, but you may in fact pay less commission.

Part-time real estatpercentage_400e agents - Some agents are not very successfull at selling real estate and must keep other jobs - maybe even full time day jobs. They may be hard to get a hold of sometimes by all parties - you, buyers, buyers agents - as their time is tied up. Their knowledge of current trends in the market may be lagging as their time is spent other ways...but yes, you may be able to get a cheap commission rate.

Desperate real estate agents - These are the agents struggling to survive. For varied reasons they struggle with lack of business. This may be because of poor marketing skills, poor customer service skills, poor business management or simply those who are not meant to be in this business. If you are willing to deal with these setbacks, you may in fact get a discounted rate.

Limited Service real estate agents - The "a la carte" real estate agents. Here you pay for only the services you want, and you get to do the rest of the work yourself. If you in fact have; all the knowledge and access to information to properly price your home, the skill and time to market the home effectively, the know-how to qualify buyers, time and expertise to stage and show the home, understanding of Connecticut real estate laws, access to all the correct forms, the know how to effectively negotiate and complete contracts, thorough understanding of the mortgage process and significant experience in the home selling/buying process  -  you may pay less by using a limited service agency.

Not the answers you were looking for?

If you wish to get your home sold for the most amount of money in the least amount of time and get through your real estate transaction smoothly - a local, full time, experienced, successful Realtor  is always your best bet.  However - these real estate agents generally do not suffer from a shortage of business, and will not be likely to discount their rate much, if at all.

Remember that old saying - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR?
